Our eczema battle

Coconut Blush was established at home in 2005 by Jane Malcolm. At the time, my two children were very young and both suffering from eczema and dry skin on the insides of their elbows, backs of their knees, arms and legs. No matter what time of year, skin was itchy and became inflamed due to constant scratching. These sore patches of skin were hard to control.

Prescribed treatments

I tried  commercial, gentle baby wash for bathing and GP’S gave me steriod creams and greasy emollients for pouring into the bath. These products helped but I knew they would not be a safe long term solution.

Time for change

After months of battling along with prescribed chemical treatments I decided to research the benefits of natural skin care. Cold process soap was the first product that interested me, so I made a small batch scented with Lavender!

Happier children!

After two bathtimes the tight feeling to skin began to lessen! Skin was starting to feel softer and less bumpy. On day three, both children had reduced redness and were not scratching as much. After one week, patches of skin were starting to heal. Shortly afterwards I decided to start my business.

Awards & recognition

2012 – Awarded the Environmental Quality Mark. An award given to businesses who show passion for their environment and work to help look after the Peak District.

2015 – Winner of Small Business Sunday (#SBS). A weekly networking hour set up by Dragon’s Den entrepreneur, Theo Paphitis.
